I'm not sure if I'm eligible to take Louisiana defensive driving. How do I find out?

As permission for ticket dismissal is granted on an individual basis by your court, their eligibility requirements will vary. You should contact your court when you receive your citation, ask whether your driving history qualifies you for ticket dismissal, and request permission to dismiss your ticket with a defensive driving course.

Generally, you qualify if you meet the following eligibility requirements:

  • You hold a valid non-commercial Louisiana driver's license
  • You have been cited for a minor, non-criminal moving violation
  • Your license has not been suspended or revoked
